How the COMPARE Microsimulation Model Works
How the RAND COMPARE Microsimulation Model Works RAND researchers developed the COMPARE microsimulation model as a way of projecting how households and firms would respond to health care policy changes based on economic theory and existing evidence from smaller-scale changes (e.g., changes in Medicaid eligibility).
International Microsimulation Association
Microsimulation is a technique developed by Guy Orcutt which uses individual level data to model economic and social outcomes. The important detail is that all the modelling is done at the individual level, allowing the person doing the modelling to identify impacts of an external factor, like Government Policy, on individuals, families, households, firms, etc.
Microsimulation model of national economy
IO model is used as a starting point of the microsimulation model. The values from the IO model define initial output of firms, structure of intermediate and investment demand of the firms, structure of private consumption of households, etc. Balanced IO model is static and rigid : none of the numbers can be changed without changes in all other coefficients.

A microsimulation model follows individual‐level health trajectories; other models typically average health trajectories across a specific cohort. We conducted microsimulations using the FEM, which was initially developed by Goldman, Shekelle, Bhattacharya, Hurd, and Joyce ( 2004 ) in the United States.

Spatial Microsimulation with R
8 Model checking and evaluation In food safety, openness about mistakes is a vital ingredient for high standards. 30 The same concept applies to modelling. Transparency in model evaluation — the process of deciding whether the model is appropriate and identifying how good the results are — is vital in spatial microsimulation for similar reasons.
